Germany’s skilled labour force shortage has reached its highest level on record, according to figures released by the German Federal Employment Agency.
People with a recognised university degree account for only 51 percent of Germany’s working-age population – the lowest level since records began in 1991.

Germany, Europe’s economic powerhouse and a leading destination for immigrants, needs at least 400,000 new workers from abroad over the next five years to stop its population from shrinking.
The future of Germany as an economic power depends on its ability to attract skilled workers from elsewhere in the European Union and beyond. The government estimates that by 2020 it will need an extra 200,000 people with college degrees and about 300,000 additional less-skilled workers to keep the economy running smoothly.

Requirements of German Skilled Immigration

- Must have taken vocational training program for a minimum of two years equivalent to a German qualification.

- The applicants older than 45 years must prove they will earn a minimum of 3,685 euros per month in their new German job, or they can demonstrate sufficient funds or a pension to support themselves
